Sailfish OS powered Oysters SF smartphone packs octa-core processor, 3000mAh battery

Finland based Jolla recently introduced the limited edition Jolla C smartphone aimed at developers to work with Sailfish OS. Now Russia based consumer electronics manufacturer Oysters has introduced a Sailfish OS phone called Oysters SF.

The Oysters SF comes with 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display and is powered by octa-core MediaTek MT6753 ARM with 2GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt expandable storage. There's a 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera, dual-SIM slot, 4G LTE support and is backed by 3000mAh battery.

For those unaware, Sailfish OS is developed by Jolla, a Finnish company formed by former Nokia employees in 2011. Sailfish OS is based on Linux platform, and the UI (user interface) relies heavily on gestures for navigation. It can also run some Android apps as well.

Oysters SF is not the only smartphone to run Sailfish, other than Jolla. Earlier this year, Jolla partnered with Indian smartphone maker Intex, under which it licensed the Sailfish OS for the Aqua Fish. However, at present, Oysters SF can be regarded as the most advanced smartphone running Sailfish OS, since the Jolla C and Intex Aqua Fish, offer modest specification in the processor, camera and battery department.

Pricing and availability is yet to be announced.
