Motorola (owned by Lenovo) will be unveiling new Moto devices on June 9 at Lenovo's Tech World event. The brand is expected to launch 2016 Moto Z (Moto X replacement) lineup. The Moto Z lineup reportedly are likely to feature modular back-plates and snap-on accessories.
While LG G5 featured a modular design, where the chin of the phone can be swapped with modular components called friends, the Moto Z line up comes with 16-pin connector at the back that lets you attach the back plates called 'MotoMods'.
The MotoMods will include stereo speakers, battery pack, camera grip w/ flash and optical zoom, rugged cover with wide-angle lens and a pico projector. Last week Evan Blass shared renders of three of the MotoMods, including projector, JBL speakers, and Hasselblad camera.
Now live images of more MotoMods called StyleMods, which comes in different materials, have surfaced online. These swappable rear covers can be put on the back of the Moto Z to customize the phone. Materials of these covers include leather, ballistic nylon and wood. Also the images once again confirm that Moto Z will have a large camera lens at the back, that we have seen in earlier leaks.
According to earlier reports Moto Z line up is expected to have two members, Moto Z Play and Moto Z Style. (successor to Moto X Play & Moto X Style). The Moto X Style (code-named Vector Thin) will come with 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED display, Snapdragon 820 SoC, 3GB/4GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, 13MP rear camera (w/ OIS, laser auto-focus) and a 2600mAh battery. It will have a sleek profile with a waistline of 5.2mm.
The Moto X Style (code-named) Vertex specs include 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display, Snapdragon 625 SoC, 2GB/3GB RAM, 16GB/32GB storage, 16MP rear camera (w/ PDAF and laser auto-focus) and 3500mAh battery. It will be encased into a 7mm thick body.
